How to Style: Gingham Skirt - MOD&SOUL - Contemporary Women's Clothing

How to Style: Gingham Skirt

Often overlooked but incredibly versatile, a quality skirt can be the subtle statement piece your closet has been longing for. Edgy leather minis, classic denim skirts, and midi-length pleated styles are all stars in their own right - but patterned skirts are even more fun (albeit sometimes tricky) to work with. This gingham ruffle piece is absolutely ideal - the length is appropriate for most occasions, but short enough to flatter every body; the black-and-white pattern is eye-catching, but still neutral; and the ruffle adds a fun twist. However, the question arises: What do I pair this with? Keep reading to see what pairs best with this piece in summer, fall, and winter - and take these suggestions to any other skirt in your closet, for that matter!

The model above looks strikingly classic with a black cami, white flats, and sunglasses - perfect for staying cool. For the summer, aside from the obvious white t-shirt, try this top with virtually any other style tank or tee: it would look great with a fitted off-the shoulder top, a boxy cropped shirt, or a graphic tee tucked in (see cover photo). Don't shy away from details on the top, too - the bolder, the better! The great thing about the palette is that it pairs with every color, so don't be afraid to experiment.

When fall rolls around, this would be gorgeous with a billowy white button-down, tucked in, and your favorite fall jacket (preferably pink, grey, camel, or forest - like above). Booties, heels, or flats would pair wonderfully, as well. If you're looking for a more casual look, try a loose white tank, your favorite sneakers, and an oversized denim jacket.

Finally, extend the wear of your skirt into winter by pairing it with a pair of black tights and booties for warmth, and top it off with a chunky knit turtleneck (or any style) sweater! A boxy shape for your top will look nicely proportioned with the fitted skirt (see above), and a neutral grey or black will allow you to accessorize with any scarf or statement earrings your heart desires.

There you have it - the ideal printed skirt that wears nicely for every season. Pick one up at Mod&Soul, or shop around for another perfect skirt you never knew you needed!
